Life Goes On

Yeah, I'm still kickin' and hangin' out in Hawaii. The "winter" weather is somethin' else out here in the islands, bout 80 in the day, mid 60's at night. If you're gonna be held against your will someplace, this ain't too bad. I was actually cold this mornin' at 61 degrees, a temperature I used to consider ideal. Think I'm going soft.

a little rain in the morning and evening
By the way, where the hell did 2011 go? That year will go down as a strange one for me and I could never have predicted the way things turned out. One year ago tomorrow, I quit my job and took off in my trusty ole Chevy truck and went camping all over America. After a few months of that I got this blog, mostly because family members wanted to keep track of my whereabouts. Seems like a real long time ago. Maybe I'll get back to bloggin one of these days, just ain't been feelin like "writing" lately. Sure do miss my hobo'n ways and I still have a glimmer of hope for some RVing in the near future... we'll see.

So here I is... gittin by on warm weather and raw fish. That's right, I eat that. Can't eat it too often though, it's expensive as hell. They got some interestin' food round here let me tell ya. Growin' up I ate just about every kinda critter there is, especially when grandma was still around. I swear that woman could make the gamiest piece of rank ass possum taste like a T-bone steak. Kind of. Anyway, this Hawaiian hillbilly will try anything once. So far my favorite new food is... octopus. You know, the arm part with all them little suction cups, surprisingly good stuff.

Not much else to report. Her is floatin round like a butterfly, happy as can be with all this sunny warm weather. Her memory still ain't what it was, but all in all, things are lookin' pretty good.

Alright then, just a quick update to let you know we're still alive. As we Hawaiians say, aloha and mahalo for stoppin' by.

HoboJoe

  3. Joe, they could make you spend more time out on the beach in that sun. Then you could just close your eyes and think you were in Texas or someplace. It's been lots colder in Texas and them thar places this winter, though, so maybe not. Anyway, it's sure nice to see that your learning some of the ways of them people. Eating that octopus is a great start. I used to enjoy the tongue from that kalua pig, especially when they pulled 'em right up out of the sand and unwrapped 'em. Just saw 'em cook a pig like that in Texas (on TV that is). They even have a lot of cowboys in Hawaii and quite a few cattle, so if you go to the right places, it even smells like you're in Texas. Just don't get bonked on the noggin by one of them coconuts, or something!

    1. Dang Russ, I was surprised they had paniolos (cowboys) over here, but they do and have, for a couple hundred years. Parker cattle ranch on the Big Island rivals some of the biggest ranches in Texas at about 140,000 acres. Say hi to Donna for me.

  5. Ya see, it's like this....ya been missed by a bunch of folks ya don't even know. Yeah, old Billy Bob is one of 'em.

I can just see an old hillbilly suck'n on a octipoos leg. Not a purty sight even if I do say so myself. I guess it ain't no worse than suck'n brains out a crawdad. Damn, that's plumb nasty eat'n.

Sure am glad to hear the little lady is do'n good in her recovery. Maybe her memory will forget that she don't like RV'n.

Even though you ain't a hobo no more don't mean we ain't interested in what ya been do'n. Ya know what I mean??

    1. Howdy Billy Bob, how the hell are ya? As usual, I'm laughin' out loud at your comment, thinking about suckin crawdad brains an all. I appreciate you missing my presence in the bloggin world and I might have do somethin bout that when I locate my mojo. Think Her might of hid it somewhere good, cause I aint found it yet. She claims she didn't take it, but I figure she just can't remember what she did with it. You take care BB and I'll be talkin to ya one of these days.

I like the new comment reply thing I see on some blogs and I'm trying to figure out the settings for that. Well JJ, sure is nice to talk you again and I wish you and your family a happy new year down there in Tuscon. Take care my friend and thanks for missing me :)
